Happy Halloween from Freight & Shipping, Inc.!
October 31st, 2008 - 0005
. . . and just how did you think all of those big pumpkins got to the store?
In a BIG TRUCK, that’s how.
Ditto for all those bags of Halloween candy. Costumes? Yup, you guessed it. Big truck.
Pretty much everything in any store was delivered by a big truck, in fact. Big things, heavy things, boxes full of all kinds of things, fragile things, perishable things. . . if it’s in a store, the odds are that it got there via a big truck.
Big trucks are responsible for the kind of lifestyle most of us are able to live. Americans are just about the only culture that can eat or wear pretty much whatever we want, WHEN we want it, because our stores and restaurants have been serviced by big trucks.
We owe a great debt of gratitude to the trucking companies of America, and Freight & Shipping, Inc., which has over sixty major trucking companies in our database, wishes to pay tribute to those truckers and trucking companies. We salute you, truckers of America!
Now, isn’t it about time you toasted those pumpkin seeds you dug out of your pumpkins the other night? Here’s how:
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Thickly butter a cookie pan with slightly raised edges.
Pick all the goo and strings out of your seeds, as much as you can. Put the seeds in a strainer and run cold water over them until all the slime is gone. Dump them onto a double-layer of paper towels and pat them dry.
Spread them over the buttered cookie sheet and put them in the oven. Let them roast for about fifteen minutes, occasionally opening the oven door to stir them around.
When the seeds are ALMOST done, turn on the broiler for about four minutes, NO LONGER. Then take out the pan, sprinkle some salt or salt substitute over the seeds, and let them cool for a few minutes. Pour them into a bowl and devour.
Freight & Shipping, Inc. wishes for you all a very safe and enjoyable Halloween. Watch your kids carefully tonight; the traffic will be crazy and children will be walking everywhere. Drive slowly and cautiously.
